Eric Swalwell & California’s Boiling Political Pot
California politics has officially reached a full rolling boil and Eric Swalwell is the latest to get cooked.
After years of loudly positioning himself as a moral authority on misconduct, lecturing the country about ethics, and attacking Donald Trump at every opportunity, Swalwell now finds himself in the very hot water he used to splash on everyone else. And the temperature shot up fast. Today he announced that he is dropping out of the Governors race.
First came the ethics investigation. Then the rape and sexual assault allegations. Now a separate investigation into campaign finance violations involving his Brazilian nanny. Add that to the controversy involving Fang Fang, a Chinese spy he was sleeping with. And then the moment that signaled the pot had officially boiled over: billionaire Stephen Cloobeck publicly cut ties with him today, saying he’d kicked Swalwell out of his mansion and was done with the Democratic Party entirely.
That’s not just a donor breakup. That’s a political eviction with luggage tossed onto the driveway.
Meanwhile, the rest of the democrat field is… well, let’s just say the pot is crowded with Katie Porter (famous for dumping a pot of potatoes on her husbands head and scolding her political aides), Tom Styer (Billionaire ultra leftist who supports progressive policies that have destroyed our state), Matt Mahan ( San Jose Mayor who pretends to be a moderate but votes with the left) and several others.
Swalwell’s exit reshuffles the deck. It clears space. It changes the math. And it gives Democrats a cleaner path unless Republican voters show up in force.
If Republicans don’t show up in June, the top‑two primary could lock the ballot before November even arrives, leaving us with two Democrats to choose from in November. This is an absolute disaster for all down ticket candidates running for State Assembly, Senate and Congress.
Join the fight. Volunteer to call, text and canvass to get Republicans to vote in June!
