Free Teeth for Meth Addicts, Paid For By Us? Angelenos, Why Are You Putting Up With This?

Los Angeles residents are stunned that Mayor Karen Bass is floating a plan that could cost $30,000–$80,000 per person to give meth users full dental reconstruction implants, dentures, bone grafts, the works, while seniors on Medicare can’t even get basic dental coverage. Critics say it’s another example of the city rewarding addiction instead of requiring treatment.

At the same time, city‑funded groups continue handing out free needles and crack pipes in MacArthur Park, even as the area spirals into an open-air drug market filled with fentanyl, meth, overdoses, and cartel activity. Federal agents recently seized enough fentanyl there to kill 190,000 people, yet the city is still distributing 75,000 syringes and 25,000 smoking kits under a contract introduced by Bass’s office.

Bass’s office admits the needle-and-pipe program does nothing to help addicts overcome addiction. Yet the city keeps funding it.

The result?

More overdoses.

More chaos.

More suffering on the streets.

More neighborhoods destroyed.

Los Angeles is already spending billions on homelessness with no improvement. Adding $30,000–$80,000 dental procedures for active meth users while continuing to hand out free needles and crack pipes? The city is rewarding destructive behavior while ignoring the residents who are forced to pay for this non-sense.

This isn’t compassion.

This is policy failure, repeated over and over.

This is exactly what happens when progressive policies run wild: chaos, waste, and a society that rewards dysfunction instead of recovery. It’s time for real leadership. It's time to end failed progressive policies and that’s why voters are turning to Spencer Pratt to turn Los Angeles around. Come on Angelenos! It's time to take your city back!

Carol Pefley for California State Assembly District 28

I’m running for State Assembly to help restore balance and bring common sense back to California’s government. I believe in a future where families can thrive, small businesses can succeed, and opportunity is within reach for all. This is still a great state—and with the right leadership, we can make it more affordable, more accountable, and more hopeful for generations to come.
