"No Kings Day"… Really?
We're all seeing "No Kings Day" advertising everywhere on social media. This Saturday, Newsom fans will be occupying freeway overpasses, street corners and everything in between. Step right up and feast your eyes on a dazzling display of political theater! Posters, banners, and signs will line the streets with shouting and fist pumping. All done to intimidate those who voted for Trump. I totally get it. There's been so much winning on our side, they need to do something to make themselves feel better about it.
Let's remind our forgetful friends on the other side about King Gavin. Remember when he waved his royal scepter and declared “Let there be closures!”? Businesses shut down, schools shut down and remained closed longer then anywhere else in the country, playgrounds , beaches and parks were taped off like crime scenes. The peasants (us) were told to stay home, mask up, and Zoom if we needed to communicate with each other. King Newsom even told us NOT to gather with family at Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Meanwhile, His Highness snuck off to the enchanted kingdom of French Laundry, with his teacher union buddies as they wined and dined all night while we were social distancing. My church is still fighting millions of dollars in fines from Santa Clara County for singing hymns without masks on.
So this Saturday, enjoy the hypocrisy circus. Bring your camera, sunscreen, your sense of humor and maybe a snack. It’s going to be a blast to watch.
