A Major Victory! The Supreme Court Blocks California Policy on Secret Gender Transitions.

In a 6–3 decision, the Supreme Court struck down California’s policy that let schools secretly socially transition children, changing names, pronouns, and identities without ever informing parents. The justices said these policies violate both religious liberty and parents’ constitutional right to direct their children’s upbringing.

The majority stressed that gender dysphoria is a serious mental‑health issue, and hiding it from parents “cuts out the primary protectors of children’s best interests.”

This ruling follows last year’s Mahmoud case, where the Court sided with parents who wanted to opt out of LGBT curriculum. The justices said secret transitions are an even greater violation.

This is a watershed moment for parental rights. The Court made it unmistakably clear:

  1. No state can transition a child behind a parent’s back.

  2. No school can hide life‑altering information from families.

  3. Parents are the first and most important guardians of their children’s wellbeing.

And of course, it came as no surprise that the Court’s liberal justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented, as they always do in cases involving parental rights and state power. But that’s a story for another day. Today is about celebrating a ruling that finally reverses a California policy that has caused so much pain for so many families.

This is a major victory for California parents who have fought tirelessly against policies that shut them out and pushed harmful ideology onto their kids. But If we want lasting change, it will take electing leadership in November that can actually restore balance . A Republican governor, a Republican attorney general, and an end to one‑party rule that has dominated the state for far too long.

Joint the fight. We're on a roll!

Carol Pefley
Candidate for Ca State Assembly

Carol Pefley for California State Assembly District 28

I’m running for State Assembly to help restore balance and bring common sense back to California’s government. I believe in a future where families can thrive, small businesses can succeed, and opportunity is within reach for all. This is still a great state—and with the right leadership, we can make it more affordable, more accountable, and more hopeful for generations to come.
