13 Million Pounds of Human Waste, And It's Not Taco Bell’s Fault

Thirteen million pounds of trash, human waste, needles, rotting belongings, and hazardous debris, all scraped out of a single Los Angeles city park in one year.

MacArthur Park sits in the middle of downtown Los Angeles, surrounded by homes, businesses, schools, and transit lines. It should be a community asset. Instead, the shocking numbers tell a stomach‑turning story of how disgusting things have been allowed to become.

According to documents obtained by The California Post through a public records request, sanitation crews removed:

6,359 tons of debris in 2025

142,329 pounds of human waste

Nearly 13 million pounds total of trash and hazardous material

It’s the kind of statistic that makes you feel queasy even if you didn’t eat Taco Bell this week. And it raises a simple question: How did a public park become a dumping ground for human waste?

This is what California’s leadership has allowed to fester, from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has spent years promising to “solve” homelessness while conditions in many neighborhoods have only grown more dire. For decades, people whispered about places like Calcutta as examples of what modern cities must never become. Yet here we are. Parts of California are looking pretty third world under Democrat one party rule!

But at least they're trying to clean it up right?
Well… sort of.
Let’s be honest: the sudden burst of “Look, we’re cleaning!” energy didn’t come from a deep moral awakening or a newfound respect for the people who actually live near MacArthur Park. It came from one thing:

Visitors. International visitors. World Cup visitors.

It’s the political version of living in a disaster‑zone house and then sprint‑cleaning because your in‑laws texted “We’re five minutes away!”

So after hauling away 13 Million pounds of biohazard, the park is cleaner than before, but still not “bring your kids” clean. More like “walk fast and don’t touch anything” clean.

That’s Los Angeles right now under "progressive" (?) leadership.
Poor Angelenos… bless them. They’re stuck dealing with this circus for another four years, because odds are they’ll end up with Karen Bass again meaning more “We’ll fix it soon!” speeches and more parks turning into biohazard no go zones.

But here’s the good news: California voters do get one fresh chance to clean house, literally, by electing a new governor. If people want a different direction, Steve Hilton is on the ballot, and MacArthur Park should be the cautionary tale taped to every fridge in the state.

If your city looks like a disaster until international guests show up, maybe it’s time to rethink who’s running the place.
