Ballot Statement
I never planned to run for office, but I can’t sit quietly while Sacramento forces sweeping building mandates onto our towns without giving us a voice. Despite years of state housing mandates, affordability has not improved and families continue to be priced out.
As a parent, I’ve seen our public schools drift away from teaching the basic academic skills children need. As a small‑business owner, I see how state‑imposed regulations, higher taxes, and fees make it harder for businesses and working families to stay here. I’ve watched one‑size‑fits‑all laws, passed by our current representative, reshape our neighborhoods, bypassing local input.
Government should make life easier, not harder. I’m committed to supporting working families, small businesses, and the residents of District 28. Too many decisions coming from Sacramento accelerate overdevelopment, strain our infrastructure, and ignore the needs of our district. I believe in responsible, coordinated growth that works with communities, not sweeping mandates that override local planning.
I’m working towards a future where families can thrive and where the next generation can still achieve the American Dream. Let’s restore balance, lower the cost of living, refocus education on core skills, ensure safe streets, and return decision‑making to our local communities.
If elected, I promise to put our families first. I will not be influenced by corporate interests or donors who don’t understand our communities. My commitment is to fight to ensure that the people who live here have a real say in our future. www.carolpefleyforassembly.com
