Carol Pefley for Assembly 2026 ("the Campaign," "we," "us") is the candidate-controlled committee supporting Carol Pefley for California State Assembly District 28. This policy explains what information we collect through carolpefleyforassembly.com, our forms, email and text messaging programs, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Information you give us: name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, ZIP code, and anything you type into a sign-up, volunteer, meeting-alert, event RSVP or contact form.

  • Contribution information: when you donate, California law requires us to collect your name, address, occupation and employer. Payments are processed by our donation processor (Anedot); we do not store full card numbers.

  • Information collected automatically: our website host (Squarespace) and analytics tools may record your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and referring site using cookies and similar technologies.

  • Information from public sources: like all campaigns, we use the official voter file and other public records to contact voters.

2. How we use your information

  • To send campaign updates, event and meeting notices, volunteer opportunities and voting reminders you requested

  • To process contributions and meet our legal reporting obligations

  • To respond to your questions and requests

  • To improve our website and communications

3. How we share your information

  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.

  • Service providers: we share information with vendors that operate our website, email, texting, donation and data tools, only as needed to provide those services to the Campaign.

  • Required public disclosure: under the California Political Reform Act, contributors of $100 or more in total are reported by name, address, occupation and employer on campaign statements filed with the FPPC and the Secretary of State, which are public records.

  • Legal compliance: we may disclose information when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of the Campaign or others.

4. Text messaging (SMS) privacy

When you opt in to text messages from Carol Pefley for Assembly 2026, we collect your mobile number and consent record to deliver the messages you requested.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Message frequency varies (up to 2 messages per month). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts or HELP for help. Full details are in our SMS Terms of Service.

5. Email

Every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email carolforassembly@gmail.com to be removed.

6. Cookies and "Do Not Track"

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site may not work without them. Our website does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

7. Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Text messaging is offered only to adults 18 and older.

8. Data security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. We keep contribution records for the period California law requires, and other information only as long as needed for the purposes above.

9. Your choices and California residents

You may ask us to update or delete your contact information, or stop contacting you, by emailing carolforassembly@gmail.com or writing to 2 Civic Center Drive #4338 San Rafael, CA 94913. Records we are legally required to keep, such as contribution reports, cannot be deleted.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it was last changed, and material changes will be posted on this page.
